This pillow is entirely HAND embroidered on light tea-colored 100% organic cotton. Amazingly it can take up to one week to embroider one pillow! It is also unique in nature since each artisan incorporates a certain flair and signature to his/her work. Accented with black velvet piping.

  • Fun Facts: During the silent film era, Santa Barbara's "Flying A Studios" was the largest movie production studio in the world. One of the most popular beaches in Santa Barbara is only accessible at low tide (Mesa Beach). The unique shoreline of Santa Barbara runs West to East instead of North to South. The Elwood Oil Field was attacked by a Japanese war submarine during WWII, the only such attack to mainland U.S.A. during the entire war. The Santa Barbara News-Press is the oldest daily newspaper in Southern California (first publication was in the year 1855). Santa Barbara's state university, UCSB, has a diverse student body, award winning professors (5 nobel prize winners). an NCAA competitive soccer team, and the campus is on the beach. The area was settled by Spanish Franciscans in the late 1700s. They built Mission Santa Barbara in 1786 to try to convert the Chumash tribe to Catholicism. The mission's architecture is a beautiful example of the 18th century spanish style. Mission Santa Barbara is a main tourist location and an active church. Downtown Santa Barbara's State Street is a must see shopping/dining area. One can stroll to the end of the street and find oneself at a truly gorgeous beach. Be sure to take particular notice of the 'Bud' Bottoms Dolphins statuesque fountain. The Santa Barbara city courthouse, buit in 1929, is a beautiful example of the Spanish-Moorish architectural style. Docent-led tours are available at the courthouse, as is the spectacular 360 degree views from the 85-foot clock tower ("El Mirador"). The largest Moreton Bay Fig tree in the country can be found in Santa Barbara on Montecito street near the train station. The tree was planted in the 1876 and its canopy stretches to 198 feet. Lotusland in nearby Montecito, is an incredible 37-acre bontanical garden which was cultivated over four decades. The garden is open to the public and provides educational programs and entertainment events throughout the year. Chumash Painted Cave-state historic park is a fascinating example of 17th century Chumash drawings. The cave contains drawings depicting a solar eclipse in 1677, it is thought to have been created by a priest or Shaman.
