Question: Hello, I emailed you a couple of days ago about how to light my platinum wick. I ordered 2 of them a couple of years ago because they were supposed to be the latest thing and long lasting. Now I am afraid to use them after reading about them on the website that you recommended. I'll be replacing an order for some wicks to replace them, but wanted to ask you how do you know when its time to replace the regular wicks. Many Thanks Again! Love your website.
Answer: We have many wick styles to choose from on our site. Although wicks are never meant to last forever, the Extended Life Wick is a wonderful wick, and we've received many great reviews from our customers regarding its usage and life. The life of a wick all depends on the frequency of use as well as the environment in which it is being used. If someone burns their lamp every day for many hours per day, the life of the wick will be shorter than someone who uses their wick only a couple times a week for a short duration. A standard wick will last approximately 8 to 12 uses (sometimes even longer!), and an Extended Life Wick will last approximately twice as long. A good way to get more life out of your wick is by removing the wick from the lamp when it is not in use, as leaving it in the oil for extended periods of time with no use can cause excessive clogging. Also, when lighting the wick, make sure to only let it flame for 2 to 3 minutes. Letting it flame for longer than that can cause damage to the wick, and reduce its life. Cleaning the wick is also a good way to preserve its life. Just soak the entire wick (stone and cotton string) in a bowl of Dilute/Neutral, or at least 90% Isopropyl Alcohol. The next day insert it back in your lamp, and it should be free and clear of any clogs that it might have received during previous uses. We hope these tips will help you as you continue to enjoy your fragrance lamp!

Question: What is the difference between the Extended Life wick & the 3C Air Pur Wick?
Answer: The Air-Pur 3C Burner by Lampe Berger has a special patented design that other wick brands cannot duplicate, such as the Extended Life Wick. It is more of a personal preference when it comes to choosing a wick, as some customers prefer specific brands over others. Both are very good wicks, and we've good reviews on each of them.

Question: The description above says its similar to the large standard wick..so will this fit a standard lamp or a mini lamp?
Answer: The Extended Life Wick by The Lamp Stand is a full size wick and will fit in a standard (also known as large) size lamp. Most fragrance lamps are made in the large/standard size. Mini fragrance lamps and mini wicks will be clearly noted in the name as a Mini size item.

Question: how long is the cotton wick? am looking for one that is 6" to 9" long with the stone attached
Answer: The Extended Life Wick is 6" long and has the stone attached.
