The City of Roses... This original design celebrates the City of Portland, Oregon.
This EXTRA LARGE pillow is entirely HAND embroidered on light tea-colored 100% organic cotton. Amazingly it takes 2 weeks (80+ hours) with 2 artisans working on it - just to make one of these XL Pillows! It is also unique in nature since each artisan incorporates a certain flair and signature to his/her work. Accented with black velvet piping.

  • Fun Facts: Portland was nearly named 'Boston, Oregon' by Asa Lovejoy one of the two original settlers.The name was decided by a coin toss. Portland is one of only a few cities to have a dormant volcano within its city limits. The cinder cone, Mount Tabor, has not had a lava flow in thoU.S.A.nds of years, it is regularly visited park (190 acres large). Portland holds an annual 'World Naked Bike Ride' which attracts thoU.S.A.nds of cyclists each year. The smallest city park in the world is located in Portland. Mill Ends Park was established in 1948 by journalist Dick Fagan (it is 2.5ft in diameter and said to be suitable for snail races and home for Leprechauns). Portland is home to more than 60 breweries... more microbreweries than any other city in the nation. Portland is a dining hotspot with over 700 food carts, hundreds of restaurants, and markets. The MAI TAI cocktail was created in 1944 at the tiki bar and restaurant called Trader Vic's. Portland is the home of Wiki inventor Ward Cunningham. He created the first Wiki in 1995. The world's largest independently owned bookstore is in Portland: Powell's City of Books. The store is an entire city block devoted to books, it stocks more than one million books. In 2010 Powell's City of Books expanded into another building across the street from the original store.
