  • Extra large, extra special. Embroidered by HAND: it takes 80+ hours to make one!
  • Dimensions: 30" x 30"
  • Materials: 100% Organic Cotton; Poly form included; Button closure.
  • Hand Embroidered and Made in India
  • Care Instructions: Dry clean only.
  • Fun Facts: The story of the "Nutcracker and Mouse King" was penned by writer, painter, and composer E.T.W. Hoffmann. He was a great imaginist who often wrote of inanimate objects brought to life. Many compare Hoffmann to the Grimm brothers as his tales are often disturbing and dark. The Imperial Russian ballet choreographer envisioned a ballet of the Nutcracker story yet chose Marius Petipa to write a libretto based on the light adaptation of the story written by Alexandre Dumas (the first). When the full Nutcracker ballet was first performed in December of 1892 it was a bit of a failure. Tchaikovsky, the illustrious Russian composer, described his own composition as "infinitely worse than Sleeping Beauty". He did not live to see the success of his ballet. Tchaikovsky created a magical musical atmosphere by utilizing the Celesta in his composition. The Celesta is a lesser known keyboard/percussion instrument with an almost heavenly, celestial sound. It is particularly showcased during the dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy.
