This pillow is entirely HAND embroidered on light tea-colored 100% organic cotton. Amazingly it can take up to one week to embroider one pillow! It is also unique in nature since each artisan incorporates a certain flair and signature to his/her work. Accented with black velvet piping.

Otis Redding, during his engagement at the Fillmore West in SF, wrote his last song and greatest hit "The Dock of the Bay." Julia Morgan, born in 1872 in San Francisco, was the first woman to receive a certificate in architecture from the Ecole Nationale et Speciale des Beaux-Arts in Paris. San Francisco's Cable Car system is the nation's only moving Historic Landmarks. During the Great Depression of the 20th century San Francisco banks did well. The city actually was in such good shape that it constructed both the Bay Bridge and the Golden Gate Bridge during the Depression. The Beatles gave their last full concert at Candlestick Park in SF on August 29, 1966. California's state flag's bear is modeled after a grizzly named Monarch who was kept in a wildlife enclosure in Golden Gate Park for 17 years. When Monarch passed away his body was stuffed and is on dispaly at the California Academy of Science. The United Nations Charter was drafted and ratified in San Francisco in 1945. The Human Be-In in Golden Gate Park, January 1967, kicked off the 'Summer of Love' movement. The steepest street in the city is Filbert Street (between Hyde and Leavenworth)... 31.5 degrees. The crookedest street in San Francisco may be Lombard Street (between Hyde and Leavenworth too) or Vermont St. (between 20th and 22nd). Both have multiple hairpin turns yet Vermont St. is far steeper. Although under heated debate even to this day, San Francisco claims that the fortune cookie was invented by resident Makoto Hagiwara in 1914. Los Angeles also claims the invention. San Francisco has a number of billionaires who call the city home, for this reason it is ranked as the fourth richest city in the world (after NYC, Moscow, and London). Caffe Trieste is the oldest coffee shop in San Francisco, established in 1956. It is said that Francis Ford Coppola wrote much of The Godfather Trilogy script here. Marilyn Monroe and Joe DiMaggio married at the San Francisco City Hall in 1954. The event turned into a public spectacle with loads of press turning out to capture the moment. The newleyweds lived for a bit in the Marina district of the city (they divorced less than a year later). The city was called 'Yerba Buena' in 1835 for a fragrant mint plant which grew along the Bay. In 1847 the name was changed to San Francisco after St. Francis. San Francisco's Palace of the Legion of Honor is a replica of Paris' Palais de la Legion d'Honneur. This museum holds one of the most significant Rodin collections in the world. The iconic Golden Gate bridge was the longest span in the world when it opened in 1937 (1.7 mile span). The name 'Golden Gate' comes from U.S. Army Captain John C. Fremont who named the bay's entrance "Chrysopylae" or Golden Gate because of its resemblance to the harbor of Byzantium, named "Chrysoceras" or Golden Horn. Alcatraz island was originally built as a military fort. It became one of the most famous prisons in the world. Famous former prisoners include Al Capone, George "Machine Gun" Kelly and Robert "Birdman" Stroud. Mission Dolores, the oldest building in San Francisco (est.1791) withstood two major earthquakes but was nearly destroyed by powderpost beetles in 2000.
